Sanskrit is one of the oldest living languages of the world. The tradition of imparting sanskrit education continues from the old gurukul format to the modern school/college curriculum. Many national and international students opt for sanskrit language as full-time education by availing the benefits of sanskrit scholarship. After completion of the course, a number of career opportunities are also available. One of the most prominent names offering sanskrit education is the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, established under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India and accredited by NAAC as ‘A’ grade.

Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan was instituted by the government of India to implement the policies related to development of sanskrit language by the Central Government. The institution aims towards the development, propagation and promotion of Sanskrit as a language for Indian students. Courses are offered by the institute for UG, PG and PhD levels. In an attempt to attract students and in order to support those who cannot afford the cost of education, the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan also offers a number of sanskrit scholarships every year. These scholarships are offered annually to students enrolled in the sansthan as well as in other institutions throughout the country where Sanskrit is taught.

Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan Scholarship Eligibility

To apply for the sanskrit scholarship, the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan has laid down a number of guidelines. These are as listed below:

  1. For class 9th and 10th standard/Purva Madhyama or equivalent courses with Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit as a paper — 60% marks or equal grade in overall and 60% marks or equal grade in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit.
  2. For class 11th and 12th standard/PrakShastri/Uttarmadhyama or equivalent courses with Sanskrit/Pali/ Prakrit as a paper — 60% marks or equal grade in overall and 60% marks or equal grade in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit.
  3. For Shastri/Graduation/B.A./B.A.(Hons.) or equivalent course of three years duration with Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit as a subject — minimum 60% marks or equal grade in overall subject and also 60% marks or equal grade in the Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit for B.A.-Ist year, for Graduation Second year & Third year.
  4. For Acharya/M.A. Degree in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit or equivalent Post-Graduation Degree — 60% marks or equal grade in the aggregate and also in concerned Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit.
  5. For Vidyavaridhi/Ph.D. or equivalent in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit — 60% marks in the aggregate

Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan Scholarship Amount

The amount of scholarship offered varies from INR 250 per month to INR 1500 per month for a total duration of 10 months to all successful applicants. PhD level applicants also get an additional INR 2000 per year as a contingent fund for a total duration of two years.
